Trees need food too!

We can replace nutrients, which are often depleted in urban soils as fallen leaves (natural tree food) are usually blown away. Hydraulic fertilization and mulching are proven methods of soil conditioning. The same apparatus is used to aid in tree protection and preservation efforts as depicted below left. Hydraulic watering is sometimes required within the critical

Ultimately, my trees look great. They have been lifted and thinned but not just from the bottom, like an unfortunate tree down the street that was trimmed by the same guy who put in a new fence. A bad haircut doesn't last forever but a bad tree trim can. It's not worth skimping on trees you will be looking at everyday for the next 10 or 15 years.

Based initially on a friend's recommendation, I called Ian Geddes Tree Care about six years ago to help restore a beautiful Japanese Maple to a more natural shape because the previous homeowner had pruned it into the shape of a lollipop. Dave explained that only so much could be done on the first pruning and that the tree would need additional shaping the following year, which made complete sense given what it looked like at the time. I was thoroughly impressed by the work done at that time so I had Ian back the following year. That particular tree is my favorite and it is thriving in a natural shape today and simply gorgeous!

From start to finish on each project, I have found his entire team (office and work crew alike) to be responsive, punctual, reliable, competent, thorough and professional. I am very pleased with the overall experience working with Ian and their crew to trim a very large cedar tree outside of my parents' home. We were specifically looking for organizations operated by certified arborists. Ian was prompt and transparent in giving us the best quote we found among several local companies. On the day of the tree service, we had some concerns with the timing and weather and they responded to our questions promptly, graciously, and clearly. Great service, great people! Ian Geddes Tree Care has the best crew, nice people, easy to work with. They came on time to give an estimate, with very reasonable price, and surpervised the work done yesterday in the backyard seamlessly, despite the rain. They put me on the schedule the next day for possible early April, then called back later to tell me they had a cancellation of one appt. for the next day & would I like to take. Well, of course I did.

The crew of 6 did a fantastic job on both trees, all crew were very efficient and polite, and did good job of cleaning up, plus only took 1.5 hrs. I felt the cost of the job was reasonable - much less than I expected.

I needed to get some branches of my elms cut back so they wouldn't extend over the fences into our neighbors' yards and so they wouldn't be hanging over our house. Dave their estimator gave me two bids, one for work that would include trimming and thinning the elms as they needed, and another just for the emergency work to prevent more dropping into dangerous areas. We took the less-expensive bid and they did prompt, high-quality work right on schedule. Very professional and extremely careful to make sure that the branches being cut were taken down without damage or debris into the neighbors'yards. We and the neighbors were very happy with their work.

It is amazing how hard it is to find an Arborist that is patient and interested in really giving you a fair opinion about the condition of a tree. After some failed attempts, we tried Ian Geddes. We needed help understanding whether our Lemon Tree had a disease or not. After sending a photo, they told us via email what they thought might be going on and didn't want to waste our time by coming out to sell us something we didn't need - which I thought was very nice and fair. If you need tree work done you should get at least 3 estimates. I recently got 4 estimates for the removal of 2 birch trees and there was a difference of hundreds of dollars. Ian Geddes had the lowest quote so I chose them. As soon as the 2 man crew arrived they went to work. They quickly and safely brought down the trees. They completely cleaned up the work site. The work could not have been done any better than it was. Very pleased.

Six years ago we had Ian come look at our huge redwood tree that was seven feet from our home. He gave good advice to watch it, and if we noticed the sliding glass door getting harder to open, the beautiful tree would need to go, before further damage was done to the foundation.

In December we noticed this beginning to happen, so we called and David came to take a look, give advice and an estimate. Four months later we had our permit and we contacted IGTC, who immediately scheduled the removal of the 70-foot tree. The tree was neatly down in a day, the clean-up was impeccable, and the stump was ground out the next day. I asked for some of the mulch to be left behind, the perfect amount was, AND over $300 was taken off the final price.

Friends have told me the price for removing the beast of a tree was very reasonable, and I agree. David and Lisa were a joy to work with, very prompt and punctual, and the clean-up was amazing...as if they were never here, except for the massive tree disappearing.

Five stars, and we will definitely use Ian Geddes Tree Care again.
